Given ,

3x +2y = 29

10x -2y= 36

(+)---------------------

13x = 65

x= 5

substituting value of x to find y,

3x + 2y = 29

2y = 29 -3x

2y= 29 -15

2y= 14

y = 7

thus, x = 5 and y =7

Alternative method:

3x + 2y= 29

3x = 29 -2y

x= (29-2y)/3 ........(a)

10x -2y = 36

10x = 36+2y

x= (36+2y)/10 ......... (b)

equating a and b,

29- 2y/3 = 36+2y/10

290 -20y = 108 +6y

182= 26y

y= 182/26 = 7

and x = 29-14/3 = 5

thus, X= 5 and y= 7
