Answer:

x+2y = -3

x = -3-2y ........(i)

-2x+4y = 10 ............(ii)

substituting (i) in (ii)

-2(-3-2y) +4y =10

6 +4y +4y =10

8y =4

y = 1/2

x= -3-1

= -4

by using substitution method

.x+2y=-3 -------(1)

-2x+4y=10 -----(2)

take en(1)

x+2y=-3

2y=3-x

y=3-x/2. -------(3)

substitute eq(3) in eq2

-2x+4y=10

-2x+4(3-x/2) =10

-2x+2(3-x)=10

-2x+6-2x=10

-4x+6=10

-4x=10-6

-4x=4

-x=4/4

-x=1

x=-1

substitute x=-1 ineq(3)

y=3-x/2

y=3-(-1)/2

y=3+1/2

y=4/2

y=2

so x=-1 and y=2
