Answer:

(x,y) = (2,-3)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given Equations are:

(i) x + 2y = -4

(ii) 3x + 4y = -6

On solving (i) * 2 & (ii), we get

⇒ 2x + 4y = -4

⇒ 3x + 4y = -6

   ------------------

    -x = -2

     x = 2.

Substitute x = 2 in (ii),we get

⇒ 3x + 4y = -6

⇒ 3(2) + 4y = -6

⇒ 6 + 4y = -6

⇒ 4y = -6 - 6

⇒ 4y = -12

⇒ y = -3.

Therefore, the value of x = 2 and y = -3.

Hope it helps!

x+2y+4=0
x+2y=-4 -----(eq.1)

3x=-4y-6
3x+4y=-6-----(eq.2)

multiply by 3 in eq.1
and by 1 in eq.2.

Subtracting eq.2

3x+6y=-12
-3x-4y=+6
-------------
2y=-6
y=-3
--------------

Now putting y in eq.1

x+2y=-4
x+2(-3)=-4
x-6=-4
x=-4+6
x=2

Hence x=2 and y=-3
