x+2y=4

Step 1: Add -2y to both sides.

x+2y+(-2y)=4+(-2y)

x=4-2y

y= -1/2x +2

2y = -4 and dividing by 2 we get y = -2, so we have (0,-2), this is the y-intercept. Now weplot the points and connect them. The resulting line represents all the x,y combinations that work in the given equation. So the slope is 1/2 and the y-intercept is -2.
