By using the identity -

  • ( {a + b + c)}^{2}  =  {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}  +  {c}^{2}  + 2ab + 2bc + 2ca

=>( {x - 2y - 4z)}^{2}

We can write it as

( {x + ( - 2y) + ( - 4z))}^{2}

Use the suitable identity -

 {x}^{2}  + ( { - 2y)}^{2}  + ( { - 4z)}^{2}  + 2 \times x \times ( - 2y) + 2 \times ( - 2y) \times ( - 4z) + 2 \times ( - 4z) \times x \\  =  {x}^{2}   + 4 {y}^{2}  + 16 {z}^{2}  - 4xy +   16yz - 8zx
