EXPLANATION.

⇒ x + 2y = 7. - - - - - (1).

⇒ x - 3y = - 8. - - - - - (2).

As we know that,

From equation (1) & (2), we get.

Multiply equation (1) by 3.

Multiply equation (2) by 2.

⇒ x + 2y = 7. - - - - - (1) x 3.

⇒ x - 3y = -8. - - - - - (2) x 2.

We get,

⇒ 3x + 6y = 21. - - - - - (3).

⇒ 2x - 6y = - 16. - - - - - (4).

We get,

⇒ 5x = 5.

⇒ x = 1.

Put the value of x = 1 in the equation, we get.

⇒ x + 2y = 7. - - - - - (1).

⇒ 1 + 2y = 7.

⇒ 2y = 7 - 1.

⇒ 2y = 6.

⇒ y = 3.

Value of x = 1 & y = 3.

x = 1

y = 3

Step-by-step explanation:

x + 2y = 7......(i)

x - 3y = - 8....(ii)

When

x + 2y = 7

=> x = 7 - 2y...(iii)

We will put the value of x in eq. (ii)

=> x - 3y = - 8

=> 7 - 2y - 3y = - 8

=> - 2y - 3y = - 8 - 7

=> - 5y = -15

=> y = -15/-5

=> y = 3

Now, we will put the value of y in eq. (i),

=> x + 2y = 7

=> x + 2(3) = 7

=> x + 6 = 7

=> x = 7-6

=> x = 1

Hence value of x = 1 & y = 3.

hope it helps.
