Given: The given equations are x+2y=7 and x-3y=-8.

To find: We have to find the value of x and y.

Solution:

To determine the values of x and y from the above equations we have to follow the below steps-

The equations are-

x+2y=7_____ (I)

x-3y=-8______(II)

Putting the value of x from equation(I) that is 7-2y in the equation(II) we get-

7 - 2y - 3y = - 8 \\ 7 - 5y = - 8 \\ - 5y = - 15 \\ y = 3

The value of y is 3.

Putting the value of y in equation(I) we get-

x + 2 \times 3 = 7 \\ x + 6 = 7 \\ x = 1

The value of y is 3 and the value of x is 1.
