Hey MATE!
If x =3 is a solution of the above equation then putting this value in the place of x we would surely get result as 0.
Putting x = 3 in equation :
x² - 2kx -6
(3)² - 2(3) k - 6 = 0
9 - 6k - 6 = 0
[tkaing -6k to other side of equation it sign changes to +]
3 = 6k
k = 3/6
k = 1/2 Answer.
