Answer:

x = 4

Solution:

We have ;

(x + 3) / (x + 1) = 7/5

On cross-multiplication , we have ;

=> 5(x + 3) = 7(x + 1)

=> 5x + 15 = 7x + 7

=> 5x - 7x = 7 - 15

=> -2x = - 8

=> x = -8/-2

=> x = 4

Hence,

The required value of x is 4 .
