Answer:

Multiplying eq.1 by 5/2 and eq 2 by 1 we get,

5x/6+5y/8= 2. ......... (III)

5x/6-y/8= 4. ........... (IV)

Subtracting eq. III from eq. IV we get,

6y/8 = - 2

6y= - 2×8

y = - 16/6

y = - 8/3

Putting this value of y on eq 1 we get,

x/3+(-8/12) = 4

x/3 - 8/12 = 4

x/3 = 4+ 8/12

= 56/12

x = 14/3×3

x = 14

So,

Y = -8/12 or - 2/3 and

X = 14
