Heya user

x2-3x-29=0

Two solutions were found :

x =(3-√125)/2=(3-5√ 5 )/2= -4.090

x =(3+√125)/2=(3+5√ 5 )/2= 7.090

Step by step solution :

Step 1 :

Trying to factor by splitting the middle term

1.1 Factoring x2-3x-29

The first term is, x2 its coefficient is 1 .

The middle term is, -3x its coefficient is -3 .

The last term, "the constant", is -29

Step-1 : Multiply the coefficient of the first term by the constant 1 • -29 = -29

Step-2 : Find two factors of -29 whose sum equals the coefficient of the middle term, which is -3 .

-29 + 1 = -28

-1 + 29 = 28

Observation : No two such factors can be found !!

Conclusion : Trinomial can not be factored
