X - 3y = 1, 2x + 4y = 2 solve by substitution method

x-3y=1
x-1=3y
\frac{x-1}{3} = y (i)

2x+4y=2
4y=2-2x
y= \frac{2-2x}{4}

y= \frac{2(1-x)}{4}

y= \frac{1-x}{2} (ii)

Now substituting the value of 'y'

\frac{x-1}{3} = \frac{1-x}{2}

2×(x-1) = 3×(1-x)

2x-2=3-3x

2x-3x=3+2

x= -5
