X+ y = 8 (1)
X - y = 4 ( 2)
To solve this system first we go by elimination method, meaning first eliminate one variable by combining 2 equations, and reducing the system to one variable, solve it, then substitute the founded value in one of the equation and get the 2nd variable.
Here we add 2 equation together: 2nd method is Substitution.
2X = 12 , then X =6 Solve for X in equation (1), Substitute in Equ (2)
Substitute in equation (1) : X = 8 - y
6 + y = 8 , then Y=2 Substitute in Equ (2) :
8 - Y - y = 4
4 = 2Y Y= 2
Substitute back in (1):
X + 2 = 8 X= 6
To find graphical Solution: Just Graph 2 lines of
X + Y = 8
X - Y = 4 , and intersection points should read ( 6, 2 )
