x+4y =10 ........1

2x-2y =2.........2

form eq1

x= 10-4y

2x-2y =2

divide eq2 by 2

x-y = 1 ...........3

put x in eq3

10-4y -y = 1

-5y = 1-10

-5y = -9

y= 9/5

put y in x

x= 10-4× 9/5

x= 10 - 36 /5

x= 50 -36 /5

x= 14 /5

Given

\sf\pink{⟶} Equation

  • x + 4y = 10....(i)
  • 2x - 2y = 2

Solution

\sf\pink{⟶} Second equation can be written as

  • x - y = 1....(ii)

From (i) and (ii), we get

[By substitution method]

\tt:\implies{x + 4y = 10}

\tt:\implies{x = 10 - 4y}

Putting the value of x in Equation (ii),

\tt:\implies{(10 - 4y) - y = 1}

\tt:\implies{-4y - y = 1 - 10}

\tt:\implies{\cancel{-}5y = \cancel{-}9}

\tt:\implies{y = \dfrac{9}{5}}

Substituting the value of y in equation (i)

\tt:\implies{\dfrac{9}{5} + 4x = 10}

\tt:\implies{4x = \dfrac{10 \times 5}{9}}

\tt:\implies{4x = \dfrac{50}{9}}

\tt:\implies{x = \dfrac{\cancel{50}}{9 \times \cancel{4}}}

\tt:\implies{x = \dfrac{25}{18}}

\sf\pink{⟶} The values of

  • x = \dfrac{25}{18}

  • y = \dfrac{9}{5}
