3(x-4y+14=0)=3x-12y+42=0
so calculating both equations,
3x-12y=-42
3x+2y= 14
------------------------
- 14y=-56
------------------------
-and- both get cancelled
so y=56÷14=4
now substituting y in x-4y= -14

if u substitute the value of y in the equation u get the value of x.......

Hope this helps you...........
