Answer: X - 5 = 3

To solve an algebraic equation , the value of the left hand side (LHS) should be equal to the value of the right hand side (RHS) .

Think about LHS and RHS as the two sides of a beam balance . If you put equal weights on both the sides , the beam gets balanced . Similarly to solve an algebraic equation , both the sides of LHS and RHS must be balanced everytime . If the balance is disturbed , the whole answer becomes wrong .

Take the example X - 5 = 3

Let's say I add 5 to X - 5 , this becomes X .

Now ,  the balance is disturbed . To balance it again I have to 5 again to the RHS , i.e. , I have to add 5 to 3

So the equation now becomes X - 5 + 5  = 3 + 5

= X = 8

This way u get the value of X
