x+5 = 3(x-4) +5

x+5-5= 3(x-4)

x = 3(x-4)

x = 3x - 12

x-3x = -12

-2x = -12

x = 12/2

x = 6

hope it helps u..

Answer:

x = 6

Step-by-step explanation:

x + 5 = 3x - 12 + 5   (Distributive property)

x + 5 = 3x - 7 (Combining like terms)

-2x + 5 = -7 (Subtracting 3x from both sides)

-2x = -7 - 5 (Subtracting 5 from both sides)

-2x = -12 (Combining like terms)

-x = -6 (Dividing both sides by 2)

x = 6 (Multiplying both sides by -1 to remove -)

Hope this is clear!
