Given equation : $\frac{x-5}{7}- 8 = \frac{2x + 4 }{5}$

Solution :  

• To find the value of $x$ from the given equation we first solve LHS by cross multiplying terms.

                         $\frac{x-5-56}{7} = \frac{2x + 4}{5}$

                             $\frac{x- 61}{7} = \frac{2x + 4}{5}$

• Cross multiplying terms of LHS and RHS ,

                       $5 ( x-61 ) = 7 ( 2x + 4)$

                        $5x - 305 = 14x + 28$

• solving like terms :  $-305 - 28 = 14x -5x$

                                                  $-333 = 9x$

                                                        $x = - 37$

Hence , value of x will be $-37$.
