Solve the equation :-

 \sf x + 6 = 12

Transposing 6 from LHS to RHS and changing it's sign,

 \sf x = 12 - 6

Subtracting 6 from 12,

 \sf x = 6.

The value of x is 6.

Verification :-

To check our answer, we just have to put 6 (The value of x) in place of x and check whether LHS = RHS.

LHS

 \sf x + 6

Putting the value of x as 6,

 \sf 6 + 6 = 12

RHS

 \sf 12 = 12

Since LHS = RHS,

Hence verified!

Know more :-

What does transposing mean?

Transposing is the process of shifting any number or variable from one side of the equation to another. For example, in the equation 4x + 5 = 12, if we transpose 5 from LHS to RHS, we will get the result 4x = 12 - 5.

While transposing any number or variable from one side of the equation to another, we also have to change its sign. Like (-) will become (+), (×) will become (÷) and so on.
