Question :-

Multiply :- (x - 7) (x + 12)

Solution :-

By using the Distributive Law of Multiplication over Addition twice, we get the Product as :

\begin {aligned}\bold {(x + 12)(x - 7)} & = x \times (x - 7) + 12 \times (x - 7)\\\\& \Rightarrow x^2 - 7x + 12x - 84\\\\& = \bold {x^2 + 5x - 84}\end {aligned}

--

It can also be done by using the Identity, \boxed {\bold {(x + a)(x + b) = x^2 + (a + b)x + ab}},

Where, x = x ; a = -7 ; b = +12

\begin {aligned} \bold {(x - 7)(x + 12)} & = x^2 + ((-7)+12)x + (-7) \times 12\\\\& \Rightarrow \bold {x^2 + 5x - 84}\end {aligned}
