Answer:

x = 14

y = 9

Explanation:

x/7 + y/3 = 5

taking lCM , we get

3x + 7y/21 = 5

3x + 7y = 21 × 5 = 105-------(i)

x/2-y/9 = 6

taking lcm gives:

9x - 2y / 18 = 6

9x - 2y = 18×6 = 108--------(ii)

now the two equations are:

9x - 2y =  108

3x + 7y =  105

now multiply eq 1 by 3

3(3x + 7y =  105) = 9x + 21y = 315------(iii)

subtracting (iii) and (ii)

9x + 21y = 315

9x - 2y =  108

------------------------

23y = 207

y = 207/23

 = 9------(put in i)

3x + 7y =  105

3x + 7×9 =  105

3x + 63 = 105

3x = 105 - 63

3x = 42

x = 42/3

x = 14

hope it helps
