Answer:

x+8y=10 and 2x -y=3 elimination

Solution

x +8y = 10 (1)

2x - y = 3 (2)

By multiplying eq.(2) by 8 on both the sides, we get,

(8)2x - (8)y = (8)3

16x - 8y = 24 (3)

By adding eq. (1) and (3), we get

x + 8y = 10 (1)

16x - 8y = 24 (3)

_________

17x = 34

x = 34/17

x = 2

By substituting x=2 in (1), we get,

x + 8y = 10 (1)

2 + 8y = 10

8y = 10-2

8y = 8

y = 8/8

y = 1

Answer: x=2 and y=1 is the solution of the given simultaneous equation
