you should use ( ) parentheses for clearly writing qn.... like √(x-9)=4 .. Otherwise, it may be taken as: √x - 9 = 4 ... then answer is 169.
because √x = 4 + 9 .. so x = 169

if √(x-9)=4
squaring both sides we get
x-(9*9)= 4*4
x-81=16
taking -81 on the right side of equal to
x=16+81
hence x=97
