Question:-

X & Y are partners in a firm sharing profits and losses in the ratio of 9:6. A new partner z is admitted. X surrenders 3/15th share of his profits in favour of z & y surrenders 6/15th share of his profits in favour of z. Calculate new profit sharing ratio.

Answer:-

Old ratio of X & Y

  • \sf{X's\:share =\dfrac{9}{15} }
  • \sf{Y's\:share =\dfrac{6}{15} }

X surrender 3/15 of his share

\sf{:\implies\dfrac{9}{15}\:x\:\dfrac{3}{15} = \dfrac{27}{225}}

Y surrender 6/15 of his share

\sf{:\implies\dfrac{6}{15}\:x\:\dfrac{6}{15} = \dfrac{36}{225}}

Z's new share = Share surrendered by X + Share surrendered by Y

\bf{Z's\:share=\dfrac{27}{225}+\dfrac{36}{225}=\dfrac{63}{225}}

\sf{X's\:share=\dfrac{9}{15}+\dfrac{27}{225}=\dfrac{135-27}{225}=\dfrac{108}{225}}

\sf{Y's\:share=\dfrac{6}{15}+\dfrac{36}{225}=\dfrac{90-36}{225}=\dfrac{54}{225}}

New ratio:-

\sf{x\::y\::z = \dfrac{108}{225}\::\dfrac{54}{225}\::\dfrac{63}{225}}

\sf{x\::y\::z = 108\::54\::63}

\bf{x\::y\::z = 12\::6\::7}
