Given:

Mid point of side AB = X

Mid point of side AC = y

AB = 5.6cm,

AX = 1.4cm ,

AC = 7.2cm and

XY || BC

To Find:

Value of AY

Solution:

Let the value of AY be = x

Since, XY || BC, therefore by BPT theorum -

AB/AX = AC/AY

5.6/1.4 = 7.2/x

x = 7.2 × 1.4 / 5.6

x = 10.08/ 5.6

x = 1.8

Answer: The measure of side AY is 1.8cm
