Given:

Alloy x contains Gold and Copper = 5:3=10:6

Alloy y contains Gold and Copper = 5:11

To Find :

Ratio of Gold and Copper in alloy Z formed by mixing x and y of equal volumes.

Solution:

Total volume of x = 10+6   .............(10:6)

                             =16

Total volume of y=5+11..............(5:11)

                             =16

volume of x= volume of y

They are mixed, so that volume of gold = 10+5

                                                                  = 15

                                   volume of copper =6+11

                                                                  =17

Hence the ratio of gold and copper in Z alloy is 15:17.
