Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

(X + Y) can finish a work = 15 days

Y alone can finish the same work in = 25 days

Concept:

Fraction of work done = (No. of work done)/(Total no. of days required to complete the work)

Calculation:

(X + Y) 1 day's work = 1/15

1 day's work of Y = 1/25

∴ 1 day work of X = (1/15 ─ 1/25) = 2/75

∴ X can do the work in 37.5 days
