so a = x/y
b = y/x
so {1/(x/y +1)} + {1/(y/x +1)}
= y/(x +y) + x/(x +y)
= ( x + y)/( x + y)
= 1
b = y/x
so {1/(x/y +1)} + {1/(y/x +1)}
= y/(x +y) + x/(x +y)
= ( x + y)/( x + y)
= 1
