Answer:

l = x cm

width = (x-2)cm

Equation: 2( x+x-2) = 84

Solve:

2( 2x-2)=84

or, 2x-2= 42

or, 2x= 44

or, x=22

Now, length= 22cm and width= 20cm

Area= 22×20 cm^2 = 440cm^2

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

let the width be b

a)  x=2+b

perimeter of rectangle=2(l+b)

b)  84=2(x+b)

x=2+b

c)  84=2(2+b+b)

84=2(2+2b)

84=4+4b

84-4=4b

80=4b

20=b

x=2+b

x=22

d)  area of rectangle=l*b

=22*20

=440
