let units digit be x

x is greater than or equal to 0 and less than or equal to 9

tens digit is 5 more than units digit so

x+5<=9

x <=4

hundreds digit is eight less than x+5

x+5-8>=0

x-3>=0

x>=3

Therefore x>=3&x <=4

x={3,4}

Therefore number is either

083 or 194

But we know 083 is not a two digit number so correct answer is 194.

Hope this helps;:)

Correct Question:

X is a three digit number. The tens digit is 5 more than ones digit. The

hundred digit is 8 less than the tens digit. What is X?

Solution :

Hundreds digits is less than the tens digit , so tens has to be number 9 because 9 dosent converts the number 10.

Step 1 : ones digit is 5 less than the tens digit, so 1s digit has to be 9 – 5 = 4.

Step 2 : The three digits are 100s digit 1, 10s digit 9 and 1s digit 4.

Thus , x = 194.
