Given,

x=k^2,

y=k

Now,

=> x-7y+8=0

=> k^2-7k+8=0

Then now factorising L.H.S.-

=k^2-7k+8

=k^2-8k-k+8

=k(k-8)-1(k-8)

=(k-1)(k-8)

Again,

k-1=0

k=1

Then again,

k-8=0

k=8

So, the value of k is 1 and 8.
