Given that √2 is the zero of the polynomial
x² + kx - 4 = 0
⇒ (√2)² + k(√2) - 4 = 0
⇒ 2 + k·√2 - 4= 0
⇒ -2 + k·√2 = 0
⇒ k·√2 = 2
⇒ k = 2/√2
∴ k = √2
x² + kx - 4 = 0
⇒ (√2)² + k(√2) - 4 = 0
⇒ 2 + k·√2 - 4= 0
⇒ -2 + k·√2 = 0
⇒ k·√2 = 2
⇒ k = 2/√2
∴ k = √2
