Let the C.P to 'X' be Rs. a
Profit = 20%
S.P = C.P*(100+P)/100 = a*120/100
C.P to Y = a*120/100
Profit = 25%
S.P = C.P*(100+P)/100 = a*120/100 * 125/100 = a*12*5/10*4 = a*3/2
Given: a*3/2 = 225
a/2 = 75
a = 150 Rs.
Hence 'X' paid Rs. 150
Hope it helps.
