Given to factorise:-

{x}^{2}  -1 - 2a -  {a}^{2}

Solution:-

 {x}^{2}  - 1 - 2a -  {a}^{2}

 =  {x}^{2}  - (1 + 2a +  {a}^{2} )

 =  {x}^{2}  - ( {(1)}^{2}  + 2 \times a \times 1 +  {(a)}^{2} )

 =  {(x)}^{2}  - (a + 1)^{2}

 = (x + a + 1)(x - a - 1)

Answer:-

(x + a + 1)(x - a - 1)

Identities used here:-

 {x}^{2}  -  {y}^{2}  = (x + y)(x - y)
