Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

X^2-4X+5

To find:-

Solve X^2-4X+5

Solution:-

Given Polynomial is P(X) =X^2-4X+5

To get the zeores we write P(X) = 0

=> X^2-4X+5 = 0

=> X^2-2×2(X)+5 = 0

=> X^2 -2(X)(2)+5=0

=>X^2-2(X)(2)=-5

On adding (2)^2 both sides then

=>X^2-2(X)(2)+(2)^2=-5+(2)^2

=>(X-2)^2 = -5+4

(Since (a-b)^2=a^2-2ab+b^2)

=>(X-2)^2=-1

=>X-2=±√-1

=>X=2±√-1

X = 2+√-1 or 2-√-1

or

We know that

i^2=-1=>I=√-1

X= 2+i or X=2-i

Answer:-

The solution for the given problem is 2+√-1 and 2-√-1 (or) 2+i and 2-i

Used formulae:-

  • (a-b)^2=a^2-2ab+b^2

Used Method:-

  • Splitting the middle term
