a²+a-6

= a²-3a+2a-6

= a(a-3)+2(a-3)

= (a-3)(a+2)---(1)

Now ,

x²+5x-(a-3)(a+2)=0

Splitting the middle term , we

get

=> x²-(a-3)x+(a+2)x-(a-3)(a+2)=0

=> x[x-(a-3)]+(a+2)[x-(a-3)]=0

=> [x-(a-3)][x+(a+2)]=0

=> x-(a-3)=0 or x+(a+2)=0

=> x = a-3 or x = -(a+2)
