x2-x-k=0

alpha beta =9

alpha beta =c/a

9=c/a

9= -k/1 (c=-k a=1)

9=-k

-9=k

x2-x-k
a=1
b=-1
c=k

alpha+ beta =-b/a
given:-
alpha-beta=9

so according to formula
alpha +beta=1

from given
let's
alpha=beta+9

substitute this value in above eqn we get
beta=-4
alpha-beta =9
substituting value of beta we get
alpha=5
hence
alpha*beta=c/a
-4×5=k/1
-20=k/1

hence k=-20
