Answer:

 \frac{x}{2}  +  \frac{2y}{3}  =  - 1  \: or \: 3x + 6y =  - 6\\  \frac{x - y}{3}  = 3 \:  \:  \:  \: or \:  \: x - y = 9

multiply 2nd eqn by 6 and add both equation to eliminate y

3x + 6x = 54  -  6 = 48 \\ x =  \frac{16}{3}
