when , x = 40 , y = 16

40 = k /√16 => 40 = k /4

=> k = 40 × 4 = 160 , k = 160

put value of ' k ' in eq.(1) , we get

now the equation is ,

x = 160 / √y

solve it , when , x = 10

10 = 160 / √y

√y = 160 / 10

√y = 16

y = ( 16 )^2

y = 256

therefore, value of y = 256
