they have equal roots means D=0
b^2-4ac
-(m+2)^2-4×1×(m+5)=0
-(2+m)^2-4m-20=0
+4+m^2+4m-4m-20=0
m^2-16=0
m=+-4

Hey mate..

Here's your answer..

__________________________
since \: roots \: are \: equal \:so \: discriminant \: is \: 0 \\ now \: b {}^{2} - 4ac = 0 \\  { - (m + 2)}^{2}   - 4 \times 1 \times (m + 5) = 0 \\  {m}^{2}  + 4 + 4m - 4m - 20 = 0 \\ m {}^{2}   - 16 = 0 \\  \\  {m }^{2}  = 16 \\ m =  +  - 4
if \: m = 4 \\ equation \: is  \: {x}^{2}  - 6x + 9 \\  {x}^{2}  - 3x - 3x + 9 \\ x(x - 3) - 3(x - 3) \\  \:  \:  \\  \\ so \: x = 3
if \: m =  - 4 \\ so \: equation \: is \:   {x}^{2}  + 2x + 1 \\ or \: {(x + 1)}^{2} \:  \: so \: x =  - 1
