X∪Y = {1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12, 18, 24, 36} and X∩Y = { 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12}

Given,

Two sets X and Y.

X is the factor of 24.

Y is the factor of 36.

To Find,

X∪Y and X∩Y.

Draw the Venn diagram of X∪Y and X∩Y.

Solution,

Given two sets are,

X contains all factors of 24.

Y contains all factors of 36.

So, X = { 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24}.

And, Y = { 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18, 36}

The union of two sets means all the values in both sets.

X ∪ Y = { 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12, 18, 24, 36}

When taking the intersection of two sets it means that the common value the two sets have.

X ∩ Y = {1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12}

The diagram which represents these types of relationships that exist between the sets are shown is in the Venn diagram.

The Venn diagram is attached.

Hence, {1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12, 18, 24, 36} is the values of X ∪ Y, and  {1, 2, 3,  4, 6, 12} is the value of X ∩ Y.
