x-y=1----------eq[1]

5x+y=23 --------eq[2]

We have 3 methods to find the the values of x and y . Here i am goin to find the values  of x and y by elimination meths as it is a very easy method to find the values of x and y

Now we have to add both the eqs . eq[1] +eq[2]

   5x+y = 23

    x-y = 1

-------------------

 6x = 24  [  is eliminated from the equation becoz of diff. signs ]

x= 24\6 = 4

Now we have to put the value of x in any of the equation above

from[1]

4-y = 1

-y= 1-4

-y= -3

So , y = 3

Hence , the required values of x and  y are 4 and 3 respectively .
