Hey Mate!!

x + y = 10 .......(1)

x + 2y = 4

By subtracting,

x + y - (x + 2y) = 10 - 4

=> x + y - x - 2y = 6

=> -y = 6

=> y = -6 .........(2)

By (2) in (1),

=> x + y = 10

=> x - 6 = 10

=> x = 10 + 6

=> x = 16

Hope it helps...✌️✌️

Answer:

X+Y=10

X= 10-Y........(1)

X+2Y=4

X=4-2Y........(2)

from..(1)&(2)

10-Y=4-2Y

-Y+2Y=4-10

Y=-6

from...(1)

X=10-Y

X=10-(-6)

X=10+6

X=16

ANS: X=16

Y=-6
