x + y = 10
xy = 8
Now , ( x + y )^2 = x^2 + 2xy + y^2
so x^2 + y^2 = ( x + y )^2 - 2xy
There fore , x^2 + y^2 = 10^2 - 2*8
There fore , x^2 + y^2 = 100 - 16
There fore , x^2 + y^2 = 84 ( Answer )
