hey
here's your answer !!

x + y = 10
xy = 8

Now , ( x + y )^2 = x^2 + 2xy + y^2

so x^2 + y^2 = ( x + y )^2 - 2xy
There fore , x^2 + y^2 = 10^2 - 2*8
There fore , x^2 + y^2 = 100 - 16
There fore , x^2 + y^2 = 84 ( Answer )

Hope it helps !!

X+Y = 10
XY = 8

(X+Y)^2 = (X^2) + (Y^2) + 2XY

10^2 = (X^2) + (Y^2) + 2×8

(X^2) + (Y^2) = 100-16

=84

Hope it helps
