X+Y=14 and X-Y=2 so,
X can be written as 2+Y let it be equation second
now, put the value of X on the equation one(that is X+Y=14)
so the equation will be
=2+Y+Y=14
=2+2Y=14
=2Y=14-2=12
=Y=12/2
so Y=6
Now put the value of Y on the equation one
X+6 =14 so X=14-6=8
Hope it helps
