X + Y = 14 x minus y = 4 x equals to 4 + Y
4+Y+Y=14
y=10/2=5
x=4+5=9

Answer:

Equation 1 : x + y = 14

Equation 2 : x - y = 4

Considering Equation 1, we get,

=> x + y = 14

=> x = 14 - y   ...( 3 )

Substituting value of x from ( 3 ) in 9 2 ) we get,

=> x - y = 4

=> ( 14 - y ) - y = 4

=> 14 - 2y = 4

=> 14 - 4 = 2y

=> 10 = 2y

=> y = 10 / 2

=> y = 5   ...( 4 )

Substituting value of y from ( 4 ) in ( 3 )  we get,

=> x = 14 - y

=> x = 14 - 5

=> x = 9

Hence the value of x is 9 and value of y is 5.
