Let x-y =2 be first equation

And x+y=4 be second equation

Now equation2- equation1

We get

(x+y) - ( x-y) = 4-2

x+y-x+y = 2

x and negative x gets cancelled

We get

2y = 2

y = 1

Substitute this value in equation1 we get value of x

Which is 1

Answer:

x-y=2------(i)

x+y=4-----(ii)

Step-by-step explanation:

From (i), we get,

x=2+y-----(iii)

On substituting the value of x from (iii) in equation (ii), we get,

2+y+y=4

=> 2+2y=4

=> 2y=2

So, y=1

Also, x=2+(1)=3 [from (iii)]

Hope it helps you:)
