X-y=2,x=2+y
Put the value of x=2+y in 4x +5y =-1
4(2+y)+5y =-1
8+4y +5y =-1
9y =-1-8
9y =-9
Y=-1
Now put the value of y =-1 in X-y =2
X-(-1)=2
X+1=2
X=2-1
X=1
We have many methods to solve this, but I solve it by substitution method. Hope it will help you well.

x- y = 2
X = 2 + y ( by equation i )
By putting value of X in equation ii
4x + 5y = -1 ( by equation ii )
4 ( 2+ y ) + 5y = -1
8 + 4y + 5y = -1
9y = -1 - 8
9y = -9
y = -9/9
y = -1
by putting value of y in equation (I)
X = 2 + y.
X = 2+ (-1)
X = 1
