x - y = 2

x = y - 2 ...(1)

2x - y = 2

substituting the value of x from (1)

2(y -2) - y = 2

2y - 4 - y = 2

y - 4 = 2

y = 6

therefore taking value of y in equation (1)

x = 6 - 2

x = 4
