Answer:

Given, x-y = 2a .....(i)

ax+by = a^2 +b^2 ....(ii)

From (i), x = 2a +y ..... (iii)

So, from (ii),

a(2a+y) +by = a^2+b^2

Or, 2a^2 +aby = a^2 +b^2

Or, aby = a^2-2a^2+b^2

Or, aby = b^2-a^2

Or, y = (b^2-a^2)/ab

substituting value of y in equation (iii)

x = 2a + (b^2-a^2)/ab.

Thus, x = 2a + (b^2-a^2)/ab and y = (b^2-a^2)/ab
